The Dutch Reformed Church of Today
It is most interesting that the Reformed faith and Church is one of the legacies and influences that have continued to live on over the centuries. In 1992, the Church commemorated its 350th anniversary, making it the oldest Protestant Church in Sri Lanka.
The faith has been maintained in diverse ways and places. At present, membership stands at approximately 5000 adherents, comprising all major communities within Sri Lanka. Interest in the Church and membership is increasing. The little haven of Protestant Christianity, introduced by the Dutch, left seeds which in later years, under the nourishing care of their successors, took root and grew into a strong tree.
